ARTIST STATEMENT:
“My work as an actor is guided by a simple intention: to embody the role I am portraying; to tell the truth about being human. I’m drawn to characters who are tender, conflicted, or quietly holding themselves together. I approach each role as an opportunity to pay attention, to attune myself to the underlying drives, goals and fears of a character and to truly understand them - allow them to shine through me, to bring life and authenticity to each and every character. No matter the role, my goal remains the same; to offer the audience a moment of connection and an invitation to come along on the journey, to discover an unfolding story in a way that stays with them. ”
Special Skills & Areas of Focus
THEATER
Theatre is where Emma feels most at home and where she has the deepest roots as a performer. Her work onstage is grounded in curiosity, emotional nuance, and a deep respect for live, shared experience. She is especially drawn to plays that balance intimacy and scope, where ordinary moments reveal something extraordinary. Recent favorites include Emily in Our Town, a role that deepened her commitment to honoring the quiet, fragile beauty of everyday life onstage and continues to inform the kind of work she hopes to pursue.
FILM & TELEVISION
On camera, Emma gravitates toward grounded, naturalistic performances that feel as if the viewer has simply stepped into a real moment. She’s interested in work that lingers on small gestures and subtle shifts—stories where what isn’t said can be just as powerful as what is spoken. Her process emphasizes listening, stillness, and letting authentic emotion rise to the surface. Most recently, she appeared as an extra in the latest season of HBO’s The Gilded Age, an experience that further deepened her interest in television and film production.
POETRY
As a poet, Emma explores language the way she approaches character: patiently, attentively, and with an eye for the precise detail that unlocks a deeper truth. Her poems often echo the themes she’s drawn to in performance—tenderness, conflict, vulnerability, and the search for meaning in everyday life. This practice continually sharpens her sensitivity to rhythm, imagery, and subtext in her acting work.
